Celebrating Faith and Patriotism: Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Exemplification at St. Thomas More Catholic Church

A Historic Event for Our Parish

On April 25th, 2026, St. Thomas More Catholic Church had the distinct honor of hosting the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Exemplification for the State of Virginia. This was a first for our parish and the surrounding area, making it a truly special occasion.

This meaningful event was organized by Assembly 1315, proudly based here in Forest, VA. It brought together Brother Knights from across the region for a powerful celebration of faith, fraternity, and patriotism.

The Significance of the 4th Degree

The 4th Degree represents the highest degree in the Knights of Columbus. It is centered on the principle of Patriotism. While the first three degrees focus on Charity, Unity, and Fraternity, the 4th Degree calls Catholic men to live out their faith in service to both Church and country.

Sir Knights are often seen serving as honor guards at Masses, civic events, and special ceremonies. They publicly witness their faith with dignity and pride, embodying the values we hold dear.

Honoring Leadership and Service

We were especially honored to celebrate the Very Reverend SK Salvador "Fr Sal" Anonuevo, our District Friar and Associate State Chaplain. He was presented with the prestigious Father Michael McGivney Award, a testament to his dedication, leadership, and faithful service.

This recognition highlights the importance of strong leadership within our community. It inspires us all to strive for excellence in our own lives and service.

In a powerful moment of commitment, 34 Third Degree Knights took the next step and became 4th Degree Sir Knights. They embraced this higher call to service and patriotism, marking a significant milestone in their spiritual journey.

This day was not only a milestone for our parish but also a reflection of the strength, faith, and brotherhood that continues to grow within the Knights of Columbus.

The Knights of Columbus Council 595 aims to strengthen our faith and improve lives in the Lynchburg community.
